Job manager unavailable to specific user

Hi-

A user in my group is having some issues with the job manager page. He has been unable to view the status of jobs in multiple workspaces. I have verified that, using my account, I can view both of these job manager pages.

When clicking on a job, he receives this response:

Following the "Click here to start over" link yields:

The workflow information here does not match the job that he is attempting to monitor.

I have tried various different permissions (owner, writer, reader, billing account owner, billing account user) -- none have effected these results. The issue persists to all workspaces that he can use. He can perform all of the other functions within Terra (notebooks, job submission, modifying the data tables, etc.).

Any input would be great!

Thanks,

-Tim

Update from the mystery user in question: I figured out that the issue was based on my being signed into the wrong Google account upon attempting to access the Job Manager. I was somehow being auto-signed in to my personal Google account, which I had used to initially test out Terra and run the single workflow shown in the second screen shot. So, it still seems that something is going wrong if the Google account is not properly transferring from Terra workspaces to the Job Manager, but hopefully this helps track down the problem.

    Thanks,

    Kenny

    Hi Kenny,

This definitely sounds buggy. Are you using the same browser the entire time? Do you have any particular settings that could be auto-signing you into your personal account or switching your account?

Yes, same browser the entire time (Chrome). I'm not aware of any settings that would cause such an auto-sign-in. Two other notes:

    1) I can replicate this behavior across my personal and MGH computers, on both of which I had originally used Terra with my personal email.

    2) I am only signed in to the alternate account on Job Manager when this happens -- I stay signed in to my main Broad account on Terra.

    Hi Kenny!

I've been told Job Manager can’t switch Google accounts on behalf of the user; no way for it to know which account the user used for Terra. Can you replicate this when using an incognito window? Could you set up the account you use for Terra as the default account for gmail?

    Hi Tiffany,

If Job Manager is intended to be dealing with a different Google login, then that explains the problem and there's nothing more to fix! Everything works fine after I switched Google accounts in Job Manager itself, and I can't reproduce the issue in incognito mode (Job Manager properly defaults to the Broad account that was used in Terra). So unless you are concerned about a recurrence of my particular edge case (i.e. Job Manager being accessed from a Terra session in which the user has previously logged into each using a different account) for someone else, then I would consider this resolved.
