Problem

Users who have migrated their eRA Commons account to login.gov have experienced issues renewing links to NIH and/or external servers in their Terra profile.

Scenario 1: NIH Account linking

If you've associated your eRA Commons account with login.gov, you might receive the following error when renewing your NIH account link in your Terra profile:

You may also receive a 'Login Failed' error if you were prompted for your username and password and used your login.gov credentials:

Scenario 2: NHLBI BioData Catalyst/NCI CRDC/NHGRI AnVIL Data Commons Framework Services linking

If you're logged into eRA Commons with your login.gov credentials, you'll see the following error when trying to renew the links to the external servers in your Terra profile:

Workaround

If you experience either scenario mentioned above, navigate to http://era.nih.gov/, click 'Commons Login' at the top-right corner, and log out of your account if you are logged in. Then navigate to your Terra profile page and click on the "Renew" hyperlink for your NIH account, or any of the Framework Services you'd like to link to. The next page will prompt you for your username/password. Log in using your eRA Commons account info, not your login.gov credentials.
