Customize workflow input user interface

Post author

I would like to be able to specify how the user interface to my workflow is presented. For example, I would like to specify that an input be displayed as a dropdown menu or that an input belongs to a section of other inputs.

Hi @jgould - I think I have a similar request. My tool "inputs" page is hard to fill out because nothing is organized. Can I have the ability to sort each column of the table?

    Hi @jgould,

I think that's a great idea. We're thinking a lot about how to make the tool launch page easier to use. Would you be willing to meet with some of our designers and engineers to discuss your ideas? If so, I can reach out via email. I can also be reached at bradt@broadinstitute.org.

    Thanks

    Brad

    Brad,

    I'd be happy to chat.

    Thanks,

I have the same challenge as Tiffany ... using a default WDL (for example https://dockstore.org/workflows/github.com%2Fgatk-workflows%2Fgatk4-somatic-snvs-indels%2Fmutect2_nio) there are ~100 fields for user input on the method config page. In FireCloud these are sortable, but not in Terra

Is there any plan to improve the input UI?  for workflows with many Tasks or the allowNestedInputs option, the input page can get very unwieldy.  Even something like being able to show/hide the optional inputs, or make optional inputs a searchable dropdown, would be a significant user experience improvement, imo.
