Data Repo items in GCP project list

When signing up for Terra, users gain access to public snapshots in Terra Data Repo ("TDR"). A user will see TDR projects of the pattern datarepo-* in their GCP project chooser. This is the expected behavior for an active Terra account.

If you no longer use Terra and wish to remove those projects, please write to support@terra.bio, including the account email and the subject "Data Repo projects/disable account". We will disable your account, and access to the projects will terminate.

FAQ

Can I remove the projects without disabling my account?
No. Disabling the account is required to remove the projects.

Can I get my account back if I want to use Terra again?
Yes. "Disabled" simply means your account is inactive. The action is reversible, so if you ever resume using Terra, just write in, and we can re-enable it.

If you use the same email in terra as you use to access GCP then you inherit all the permission groups from the datarep-* projects. There is a limit to the number of permission groups you can have assigned to your identity after which some GCP services lose functionality. For example, Knowledge Catalog has a hard limit of 700 permissions groups after which you lose access to search functionality and the datarep-* projects from terra can exceed that limit and degrade the service.
