Downloading data on external hard drive

Hello all,

I am a new Terra user and I have been trying to download my data to an external hard drive. I copied the gsutil command and pasted it to the terminal Terra has and then I added the path to my external hard drive. However, I kept on getting the following error message: "Destination URL must name a directory, bucket, or bucket subdirectory for the multiple source form of the cp command". Am I doing a mistake in the way I am writing the path or am I missing something else here?

    Hi Panagiota Kolypetri,

Thanks for writing in. It is possible to use the gsutil command to copy files from a Google storage bucket to your external hard drive. However, you'll need to do it in your local terminal, not the terminal UI in Terra. The Terra terminal has no connection with your local storage and therefore can't recognize the path to your external hard drive. Can you try running your gsutil cp command in your local terminal? If you haven't already, you'll need to download and install Google Cloud SDK first.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,

    Samantha
