what does status running mean?

I running some performance tests today to explicitly understand what happens when I exceed my CPU quota. I was surprised to see the job history page shows the status of all data entries as running?

I checked the execution folder or a data entity that I expected to be blocked, I do not see a stdout file so my guess is it is not actually running.

One of the goals of this test is to see if I can use the google cloud metric explore to look for quota exceed problems.

Kind regards

Andy

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for writing in. As far as Cromwell (Terra's workflow execution engine) is concerned, a Running status for a job means Terra has submitted the request to Google, which may or may not start it immediately depending on resource availability and user quota. It's possible that these jobs have been submitted to Google but haven't yet started in earnest, which is why you did not see a stdout file.

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

    Kind regards,

    Jason
