Notebook runtime creation failed -- not enough memory

Post author

Hi- I am attempting to start a very small runtime environment for notebook development but am getting the following error (with the configuration below):

Is this error due to the kernel that I have chosen? Or do notebooks have minimum requirements in general? Is there any documentation on minimum requirements?

Thanks!

    Hello Tim,

Sorry about the delay but checking on this right now! Similar issues with the same error were due to a cluster that was errored in the background and not deleting properly so a new one in the process of creating throws this error. I'll get back to you asap!

    Tim,

Can you confirm if you are able to create a Runtime Environment now - we believe we have fixed the problem.

We reproduced the issue by creating a custom cluster with 2 CPUs and 1.8G memory. We think this is probably a UI bug and the UI shouldn't present this option if it is not a machine supported by Google.

Can you pick the next highest memory option in the meantime as the team investigates further and let us know if you are successful?

    Thanks!

    Hi-

At the time, I think that I just picked the default "moderate" config and went with that. Everything worked with the moderate settings.

    Thanks Tim,

It seems to be a bug that the Notebooks team is looking into. Please let us know if you experience this again.
