One fundamentally awesome aspect of notebooks (at least for me) is not having to handle permissions, auth tokens, or anything of the sort. It allows our group to keep data secure while still getting analysts into an interactive coding space -- no downloading files onto personal computers or to on-prem resources.
To that end, I wish that as a user, I had full access to the VM created when starting a notebook runtime environment. We've been working on some interactive visualizations through R Shiny but cannot run this natively on Terra due to limited access.
