Service Incident - October 25, 2021 (Spark clusters)

Summary

We have identified an issue with stopping Dataproc clusters in Terra. Users may see that their Dataproc/Spark clusters do not successfully pause.

Timeline

October 25, 2021 12:35 PM - Fix released - A fix for this issue has been released. Users should be able to pause their Spark clusters successfully at this time.

October 25, 2021 11:34 AM - Issue investigation - The investigating engineers have traced this issue back to last week's Terra release. A fix for this issue is currently being developed.

October 25, 2021 9:53 AM - Issue discovered - A user wrote in reporting that their Spark cluster has been in Pausing status since they submitted the Stop request earlier that morning around ~5:45 AM ET.

Impact

Users who have Spark clusters may find that they are unable to pause their runtimes until the fix is rolled out. Please reach out to support@terra.bio if you need any Spark clusters manually stopped. Provide the Google Project ID for your workspace (found in the right-side section of the dashboard) and your runtime name (found in https://app.terra.bio/#clusters under Details).
