Summary

Our engineers are currently investigating an issue impacting some workflows being run on Terra.

Some users may see their workflow fail with the message 

Task ___ failed. The job was stopped before the command finished. PAPI error code 12. Execution failed: allocating: creating instance: inserting instance: Post https://compute.googleapis.com/compute/v1/projects/349798288988/zones/us-central1-f/instances?alt=json&prettyPrint=false: server does not have the client-specified method

Timeline

May 5, 2021 5:00 PM ET - Issue resolution - We can confirm that no users have run into this issue since April 30, which suggests Google has successfully applied their fix for the issue.

April 28, 2021 1:18 PM ET - Issue remediation - Google's Compute team has rolled out a workaround that will significantly reduce the frequency of jobs running into this error, and plan to release a full fix in the next couple of days.

April 27, 2021 9:07 AM ET - Fix in progress - Google's Compute team is currently working on a fix for this issue.

April 26, 2021 5:18 PM ET - Issue escalation - Our Workflows team has escalated the issue to Google for investigation.

April 26, 2021 4:19 PM ET - Issue discovered - An internal member of the team ran into the issue and reached out to our Workflows team to investigate.

Impact

Very, very few users are experiencing the error shown above, but some may see their workflow fail with the message server does not have the client-specified method.
