Status Update

November 5, 2019 2:00 PM ET - Due to performance issues identified in our tests, this release has been delayed. New time and date will be announced once stability is confirmed.

Summary

All Terra/FireCloud users may experience a short period of slowness and a short 30 minutes of downtime while a new permissions related update is released to the platform. Specifically, the database that hosts permissions information will be migrating to a more performant database. The release items are backend and do not require any user actions. Performance should resume as normal post the release window. The maintenance details are as follows:

Date: November 5, 2019

Start: 9:00 PM ET

End: 11:00 PM ET

Users Impacted

All users working on Terra/FireCloud will be impacted and will experience ~30 minutes of platform downtime during the listed time frame.

Expected Behavior

This release includes migration of a database that hosts security and permissions information. Therefore, actions requiring authentication/permissions will be down and inaccessible. This means that users that are already signed-in will not be able to perform any actions on the platform and users not signed-in will be stalled until the release is complete. However, any workflows that have been submitted prior to the start of the downtime will continue to run.

Note: Users do not need to take any specific actions or modify behavior prior to or post release but we urge that work is planned accordingly.
