Summary
We have identified an issue with creating Jupyter Cloud environments. Any successful attempts have been sporadic and far between. Common error messages read "failed to create cluster ### due to 5 seconds" and "failed to start cluster ### due to 5 seconds."
Timeline
July 21, 2023 3:02 PM - Issue Remediated - Our engineers deployed a fix to the system that seems to have resolved the issue for now.
July 18, 2023 - Issue Still Being Investigated - Our engineers haven't yet been able to narrow down the cause of this issue but they are still working to do so. In the meantime, they are working to differentiate the causes of the 5 second timeout.
July 13, 2023 11:07 AM - Issue Escalated - After more users wrote in experiencing this issue, it was determined that this is a Prod incident. Our engineers are working to resolve it.
July 12, 2023 2:00 PM - Issue Worsened - We received several more tickets from users experiencing this issue.
June 28, 2023 3:00 PM - Issue First Reported - A user first wrote in experiencing an issue starting a cloud environment. The issue was eventually resolved on its own.
Impact
Users may be unable to create Jupyter environments.
