Service Incident - February 2, 2023 (Terra Outage)

We have identified an issue causing multiple different errors and failures throughout Terra due to a quota limit with Google groups. This issue may cause issues with logging into Terra, creating workspaces, or workspace group modifications. Some common errors we have seen include the following:

  • "Error checking ToS" when logging in
  • "Error loading workspace"
  • "Error checking registration"


February 8, 2023 10:18 AM ET - Issue fully resolved - Our engineers have worked with Google to understand the underlying cause of the issue and have put measures in place to prevent it from happening again. Users may still run into permission errors due to a separate issue described here:

February 2, 2023 10:15 PM ET - Issue remediated -Our engineers determined the cause of the issue as a quota limit on Google groups and released a temporary fix. Users may still experience various errors. Terra engineers are working to resolve the underlying issue as quickly as possible.

February 2, 2023 8:44 PM ET - Issue identified - Our engineers first noticed that Terra had become unresponsive leading to multiple errors.


Users may see various errors when attempting to login to Terra, load workspaces, alter group permissions, or do other tasks in the platform.
