The following release notes correspond to May 5, 2021 - May 11, 2021. In addition to the items below, this release includes back-end updates to workflows, notebooks, User Interface and Google Integrations to improve upcoming features.

Cromwell

  • Added experimental support to download data during Google Cloud Life Sciences jobs using DRS AccessURLs. More information is available at the following link.

Interactive analysis (Notebooks, RStudio, Galaxy)

  • Google supports composite objects — now we do, too. crcmod has been installed on notebook runtimes in order to support accessing GCS composite objects with gsutil.
  • Fixed a bug where the user-selected Dataproc machine type was not getting set correctly in GCP, causing memory issues in Hail jobs. This would lead to a "Error while receiving"  Hail errors.
  • Fixed a bug where Galaxy was only claiming 200GB of disk space, regardless of the size of the persistent disk. It now utilizes the entire disk, with a minimum disk size of 100GB.
  • The UI will now warn users when trying to delete a workspace containing a running instance of Galaxy.
