This release note correspond to the dates February 29, 2023 to March 8, 2023 This release includes back-end updates to workflows, interactive analysis (Notebooks, Galaxy, RStudio), user interface, Data Repository, and Google integrations to improve upcoming features.
Data Repo
- Going forward for GCP datasets, file data will now be ingested by default into buckets that will be managed by a new google feature: Autoclass. Autoclass automatically transitions files to appropriate storage classes based on each object's access pattern. It moves data that is not accessed to colder storage classes to reduce storage cost and moves data that is accessed to Standard storage to optimize future accesses.
- This change will only impact datasets created after this change. Currently, Autoclass must be enabled at bucket creation time, so we cannot retroactively enable this for existing datasets.
- Buckets that have Autoclass enabled incur a monthly fee of $0.0025 for every 1000 objects stored within them
User Interface
- Billing project owners can now invite new Terra users to a billing project. The user will receive an email invitation only the first time that that they are added.
